Antananarivo
Antananarivo, also known as Tana, is Madagascar’s capital city. It is perched at 1400 metres above sea level crowning a spectacular mountain range. Founded in 1625, Antananarivo boasts a rich historical heritage that is complemented by scenic landscapes covered in a large network of popular hiking routes. The city serves as a great base from which to explore the magnificent surrounding area, which hosts several nature reserves, including the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, with its fantastic limestone karsts. Known for its vibrant nightlife, Antananarivo features local live music at a variety of clubs and bars. Visitors can look forward to exploring the remnants of the French colonial era in the old heart of the city, as well as discovering ancient Malagasy palaces interspersed between the faded grandeur of these colonial relics
Feon’ny Ala, Perinet Special Reserve
Perinet Special Reserve
Comprising 810 hectares of pristine rainforest and montane forest, the Perinet or Andasibe Special Reserve constitutes the southern section of the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. Among the kaleidoscope of wildlife found in the reserve, it is the best place to see the Indri Indri, the largest of the lemur family, which stands roughly three feet high and has big, teddy-bear-like ears. Endemic to this part of the world, the Indri is critically endangered, with only hundreds left – however, most visitors to Perinet see Indris, and if you don’t see them, you will certainly hear their distinctive calls. Discover the eleven other species of lemur in the park, spot a variety of birds, find hidden rare orchids and try to catch a glimpse of the incredibly unusual satanic leaf-tailed gecko
Feon’ny Ala, Perinet Special Reserve
After breakfast at the hotel you will visit of the Analamazaotra National Park which is the home of the black and white indri, the largest of the Malagasy lemurs which has a haunting cry which can be heard throughout the forest. Other lemur species might be discovered during the visit includes the common brown lemur, grey bamboo lemur and the eastern woolly lemur. The walk will last around 3 hours after which you will be taken to a restaurant for lunch (own charge).
In the afternoon you’ll visit the Mitsinjo Reserve to discover other species of lemurs and chameleons such as Uroplatus and Parsons Chameleon the largest species on the island. Mitsino forest is managed and protected by the local community association of Mitsinjo.
Chambres du Voyageur, Antsirabe
Perched in the Central Highlands, Antsirabe serves as the capital of the Vakinankaratra Region. Known as the ‘Malagasy Vichy’ because of its numerous hot springs and thermal baths, Madagascar’s third largest city offers tourists a bustling and gritty atmosphere in a setting reminiscent of the Belle Epoque. The city can be experienced on foot or on one of the many colourful pulled rickshaws – referred to locally as pousse-pousses. The city’s charming attractions include: French colonial buildings dating back to the early 20th century, Scandinavian villas, vibrant markets and artisan workshops. A visit is incomplete without a trip up Ivohitra Hill, where a panoramic view of the scenic highlands awaits.

Ranomafana National Park
Situated in the southeastern region of Madagascar, Ranomafana National Park is one of Madagascar’s most popular national parks. Spanning 41 600-plus hectares of tropical rainforest featuring an array of rare and exotic fauna and flora. Established to conserve this unique biodiversity and subsequently declared a World Heritage Site in 2007, the Ranomafana National Park is home to twelve species of lemur, one of which is the critically endangered golden bamboo lemur, discovered here in 1986. There is comfortable accommodation in the nearby village of Ranomafana, and within the park, there are camping facilities and a privately owned ecolodge. Visitors should stay at least one night to make the most of the trails available and to enjoy a night ride to view the park’s rather exotic collection of reptiles, frogs and insects.

Visit of the main forest of the Ranomafana National Park for spotting birds and lemurs. Three species of bamboo lemurs are found in this forest (grey bamboo lemur, golden bamboo lemur and the greater bamboo lemur) as well as other lemur species as the Milne Edwards sifaka, the common brown lemur and the red bellied lemur. With luck you may spot some of the biggest chameleons in the island – the Parson’s chameleon.
In the afternoon you will be driven to Vohiparara forest where you will try to see some endemic birds such as the Cryptic warbler, the Yellow bellied asity, the Madagascar Yellow brow, Nuthatch Vanga, Madagascar forest fody as well as lemurs.
Fianarantsoa
Located in south central Madagascar, the royal 19th-century city of Fianarantsoa has grown over the years to become Madagascar’s cultural and intellectual hub. Serving as Madagascar’s third largest city, Fianarantsoa is home to numerous schools and academic establishments, impressive colonial architecture, and more churches per square metre than any other city in the country. A popular attraction is the old historic centre of Anatirova, where tourists can enjoy panoramic views of the city. Fianarantsoa is also located in the country’s richest wine-producing region, making wine tours and tastings a popular pastime. Visitors can also enjoy browsing the local market and exploring Haute-Ville, with its cobbled streets and great views.
