Day 1 Johannesburg
On arrival you take a shuttle to the accommodation near the airport to have a nice rest after the flight. our representative meets you this day or early morning, to hand you a welcome pack and road atlas
Johannesburg
Johannesburg is one of Africa’s biggest and most vibrant cities. It is the economic capital of Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa. Although not as famous as other South African destinations, there is plenty to do in Johannesburg and nearby Pretoria. The old city is a multi-cultural mixture of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks and ultra modern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries and organised tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is Southern Africa’s best and the many restaurants cater for all tastes. The nearby township of Soweto is Johannesburg’s most popular tourist attraction.
Day 2-3: Warmbaths A Forever Resort, The Waterberg Biosphere
You will be transferred to the camper van depot, where you will receive an instruction about the vehicle. Your self-drive adventure-safari now begins, as you drive into the North West Province to the Waterberg. This family resort offers many activities like different sports, boats, bikes, pools and even a spa.
The Waterberg Biosphere
Situated amidst the towering Waterberg Mountains in the Limpopo Province, the Waterberg Biosphere, as the name suggests, serves as a water reservoir for the region. Renowned for its rugged beauty, the landscape is characterised by low-lying mountain ranges and escarpments, as well as a network of streams, rivers and lakes. It is the home of South Africa’s first-ever savannah biosphere reserve and is also home to many other nature reserves which provide a protected habitat for an array of wildlife. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing soak in natural hot springs, discover the ancient World Heritage-listed archaeological site in Makapans Valley, and view abundant bird life at the Nyslvley Wetlands.
Day 4-5: Tshipise a Forever Resort, Soutpansberg Mountain Range
The famous Tshipise (Something Warm) Koppie (=hill) towers protectively over the Resort with giant Baobabs, Mopani, Red Bushwillow and Jakkalsbessie trees dotting the Landscape. Blessed with all year-round sunny climate and Hot Mineral Springs. The northern part of the Kruger National Park is just a stone’s throw away from this Lush Bushveld Resort. Horseriding, Nature Trails and Guided game drives are available.
Soutpansberg Mountain Range
Located in the northern province of Limpopo, the Soutpansberg, meaning ‘Salt Pan Mountain’ is South Africa’s most northern mountain range, which forms part of the UNESCO-designated Vhembe Biosphere Reserve. Known as the gateway to the neighbouring countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, the spectacular Soutpansberg mountain range stretches from east to west covering over 130 kilometres. These mountains boast a rich cultural heritage, diverse fauna and flora, and unspoilt wilderness featuring rugged peaks rising from the baobab-dotted plains. Take a guided tour to a nearby Venda village, explore the sacred valleys and lakes, and discover the ancient historical rock art of this beautiful area
Day 6-8: Phalaborwa Safari Park, Kruger National Park
Your safari adventure now begins, when you drive to the northern entrance gate of Kruger National Park. The northern part is much less visited than the south. You will spend the whole day on your self drive game drive to the middle of the park. Along the way there are several bush camps and picnic areas where you can have a break.
Kruger National Park is a natural paradise teeming with wildlife and a variety of indigenous flora, fertile valleys, subtropical Lowveld vegetation and an amazing amount of birds and animals.
Take a walk on the Wild Side at your Resort, located on the doorstep of the Kruger National Park, a stone throw away from the Phalaborwa Kruger National Gate. The camping sites are nestled in between the indigenous Mopani trees, part of the Kruger National Park’s Big 5 Trees. You can go mountain biking, do hiking trails, river safari’s or just explore Kruger on your own the coming days.
Kruger National Park
Stretching over more than two million hectares, the Kruger National Park is one of the world’s largest game reserves and a truly remarkable destination. Owing to its exceptional size, visitors are able to experience fantastic diversity – from changing scenery and ecosystems to an impressive array of animals, plant life and birdlife. The park is home to over 130 mammals and over 500 bird species. Visitors can look forward to learning about the area’s prehistoric past, enjoying a host of accommodation options, and viewing abundant wildlife including the famed Big Five. The diversity sheer density of wildlife makes Kruger National Park an unforgettable and potentially life-changing experience.
Day 9-10: Forever Resorts Swadini, Panorama Route
Swadini is landlocked by the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve and nestled amongst the Drakensberg peaks, on the banks of the Blyde River. Enjoy exclusive Boat Trips on the Blyde Dam, spot Hippo and Crocodile, and visit the “Tufa” Waterfall.
You will also enjoy visiting Bourke’s Luck Potholes, The Pinnacle, Mac-Mac Falls and God’s Window, all along the famous Panorama Route. Activities include hiking, mountain biking, pedal cars and quad trails so there is no moment to get bored!
Panorama Route
Connecting the Lowveld and the spectacular Drakensberg, sandwiched between the Kruger National Park and the Highlands Meander, the historical Panorama Route is a scenic road in the Mpumalanga Province. The route features sensational views of breathtaking natural wonders, fascinating rock formations, impressive waterfalls, scenic hiking trails, and a myriad of fauna and flora. The quaint little town of Graskop serves as the gateway to this wonderful route. Panorama’s undoubtable highlight is the verdant splendour of Blyde River Canyon, one of the world’s largest green canyons featuring lush subtropical vegetation. Some other popular natural attractions along the route include: the spectacular Lisbon, Berlin, and Mac Mac Falls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels and the astonishing God’s Window. Don’t miss the world-famous Kruger National Park and the picturesque gold rush town of Pilgrim’s Rest, a historic living museum.
Day 11-12: Forever Resorts Badplaas, Mpumalanga Highlands
You continue further south to the majestic Hlumuhlumu Mountain Range, south of Kruger. There are so many activities availalble in this resort it will be hard to choose from. They offer a wide range of activities for the whole family; like a water park, Hydro & Spa and all kinds of Sports and Eco Adventures.
Mpumalanga Highlands
Set high on the escarpment, the Mpumalanga Highlands feature endless savannah plains meeting steep mountain passes hugging rugged rocky cliffs. The Highlands of Mpumalanga are a playground for nature and adventure lovers. A number of charming, high-altitude, grassland villages are scattered on a sea of cattle ranches which are interspersed with numerous trout fishing locations and mountain hideaways. Aside from the trout and quaint towns the highland scenery and flora and fauna are also major attractions. Visitors can enjoy a number of wonderful activities including: discovering crystal-clear streams and cascading waterfalls, visiting the Highland’s tourism mecca of Dullstroom, as well as horse riding, whiskey and beer tasting, hiking, fly fishing and much more.
Day 13-14: Forever Resort Loskopdam, Mpumalanga
Last, but not least, you will end this family adventure at Loskopdam, on the banks of the Olifants River. This family friendly favourite is surrounded by the Waterberg Mountain Range and Loskop Dam Nature Reserve which is home to Antelope, Leopard, Crocodile and Hippo. Relax your two last day before heading back to Johannesburg.
Mpumalanga
Divided by the Drakensberg Escarpment, Mpumalanga – meaning ‘where the sun rises’ – is a province in eastern South Africa. Known as the Highveld, Mpumalanga’s western region features grassland, with the eastern ‘Lowveld’ region mostly comprised of savanna. Popular tourist attractions include the Sabi-Sand Game Reserve, known for its amazing leopard sightings and the Kruger National Park, home to the renowned Big Five. Visitors can also look forward to a wide selection of wonderful activities such as excellent wildlife viewing, white water rafting down the Sabie River, and visiting the iconic Blyde River Canyon, one of the world’s largest and greenest canyons. Other popular activities include: camping, bird watching, hiking, swimming, abseiling, canyoning, fishing and guided nature walks.
day 15 Johannesburg
Today you will drive back to the camper van depot in Johannesburg and be transferred to the airport for your flight out.
